How To Install Ape Hangers On A Street Glide

While I had mine off I upgraded my speakers, installed my heritage bars, but you can update your headlight bulbs, install a stereo amp, run more speakers or at least run the harness, change out the air temp gauge to a oil temp gauge.

Throw your fists in the air with these 12' ape hangers. A favorite among long-armed riders, these bars are shaped to rest your hands just above the top of the classic Bat Wing fairing. The bars feature a tall stance and minimal amount of pull back that help to achieve a cool yet comfortable riding profile.

Rated 4 out of 5 by waynelloyd72 from Great bars!I'm 5'-10 and these bars are the perfect height for me. It took a little getting used to the width, but I feel like I have better control and the comfort is much better than stock bars. Harley should just put these on a stock bars. This was the best thing I have done to my bike so far!
Rated 3 out of 5 by Mainecat21 from Good height but paint and bar thickness could be betterAt 6'0 with a long torso, I was constantly reaching down for the stock bars and was not comfortable. These are a great height for me, my hands are just below my shoulders and the grips are right at the top of the fairing, not above. I bought aftermarket, smaller mirrors and drilled new holes lower on the fairing and look under my arms to see behind me. I prefer this cleaner look from the front and can still see behind. As for the install, you do not need cable or wire extensions. I disconnected all the wires from the cannon plug connectors, ran them through the bars and then re-routed the connectors that run to them in the fairing. Clutch and brake lines are plenty long. As for the bars, the black is painted not powder coated. So the paint chips and peels way too easy! Especially when you are trying to position the hand controls. These bars pick up a little more vibration but are not that bad. I.M.O. they need to be 1/2 thicker, this would cut down on vibration, look better and make running the wires through the bars easier.
Rated 4 out of 5 by mtnmanbrad from Right fit for meI'm 6'4' and it was the right fit for me. Dealer said I had to lose the heated hand grips due to cabling restrictions (hole size) through the handlebar. Reason for not scoring a 5

12 Ape Hangers Street Glide

2017 cables

Looking to get these 12 inch mini installed but can not find out if I need to replace cables on 2017 Street Glide or if will my stock wires work.

Will these bars fit 2016 street glide without replacement of cables and wires

Hi Robbins1, When changing handlebars it is recommended cables and wires be replaced as well. The same goes for the Batwing Mini-Ape Handlebar--cables and wires must be changed. Thanks!

How wide are the bars tip to tip?

Looking to install on my 15 Road Glide Special. I don't want something too wide though. A lot that I am coming across are 37". I was looking for something that is more around 31" or 32" wide.
Hi HarimauSilat, The tip to tip length of this Batwing Mini-Ape Handlebar is 35 inches. Thank you for your question.

Do these require a cable and wiring change for a 2009 Streetglide?

Hi Rusburnett, Yes, this Batwing Mini-Ape Handlebar does require the separate purchase of additional components for installation. Please refer to the "Bat Wing Mini-Ape Handlebar" link, under the "More Info" tab for assistance. Thank you for your question.
